This is a common method of mooring to FSOs and FPSOs where the export tanker is secured to the FSO / FPSO by means of a chafe chain. The distance between the export tanker and the installation is between 65 – 80 meters depending on the hawser length.

Since approach is to a ‘live’ installation, it will have to be carried out with precision and ensure that the lives of personnel onboard are not compromised with poor and/ or inexperienced piloting. Loading Master duties are incorporated with pilotage duty.
